The third time spinning and as hard as the first one. With my maximum heart rate set up from the rule of thumb value of 196 to 214 using the numbers from last week.
Right now I’m working on a project to simulate the mechanism which govern our oxygen consumption and heart rate. Some facts:
The heart rate is not directly linked to the oxygen / carbon dioxide concentration in the blood. Rather the heart rate is increased by our expectation of hard exercise (can raise your heart rate to almost your target heart rate just by thinking of the exercise) and by signals from the muscles, telling the brain stem how much work is done. The brain then calculates the required heart rate to supply the muscles with oxygen.
I hit a new highest heart rate ever measured for me: 201. With my new maximum heart rate of 214 this corresponds to 94% of the maximum.
